Counting Blessings December 20, 2008

It’s almost the end of the year. I just want to look back at the things that I was thankful for but never really had the time to appreciate it. I guess it’s never too late to count your blessings.

…for fate that brought Major to our dreary flat in the city. He has given me his goofy character, warmth (he likes to lie down on my feet) and mischief in my life, especially since I left my other dogs back home due to work. Major has become my stress-buster and cuddle-buddy.

…for giving Butch another chance. He’s already 8 yrs. old and old age is trying to get the better of him. After spending 2 weeks in the vet for his liver failure (his skin and eyes were so yellow!), he’s now well enough to chase the mailman away! Butch is my main dawg (sorry can’t resist the pun!).

…for Raine’s diligence in catching rodents at our garden. And for training Jack to be her second-in-command. No cat, mouse, or lizard can cross our garden and make it out alive because of them. We never needed any fancy alarm or locks since we had them.

…and lastly, I am thankful that, even in this economic recession, I still have a job so I can support and keep my babies happy.

Obama’s Dog Choice November 9, 2008

I rarely tune in to news. Why? It makes me sad, angry and stressed out…most of the time.

Well this time it placed a smile on my face…

…hearing Barack Obama wanting to have an adopted mutt as the presidential dog.

How awesome is that?!

Butch’s Christmas Wishlist – Part 1 November 8, 2008

Everyone in my family knows that whenever there is something soft, flat and for humans use only, it’s a sure thing that Butch will slyly take it away and use it. (ok, I usually cannot resist when Butch wants to take it as long as no one else gets mad )

Case point #1: boxes

Case point #2: old pillows (or pillows that i think are old but still usable)

Case point #3: slippers (luckily not mine)

We usually see him squeezing his 60lbs frame into a small chair. And then when he goes down we can see him limping, probably from bad circulation (like when you sleep on one side the whole night and then wake up feeling stiff). Pity that…

I’ve been thinking of getting Butch his own bedding for Christmas. My dad, the do-it-yourself- guru, made a large pillow for the dogs to use but unfortunately it only lasted 3 days. Normal store bought pillows last 1 day with them so I guess that’s an improvement already. I want something huge enough to fit at least 2 pit bulls, sturdy so it can withstand chewing and, most of all, washable to get rid of the funky smell after a few days of usage.

If my dogs could shop (oh no!),  they would bark and whine with these dog bed selections from shopwiki, as there were so many types of beddings to choose from (its like the ikea catalogue version for dogs!).

I love the idea of them having a metal frame bed of their own but my room is too small for that.  If I get a massage bed (how spoiled is that), I think my dad would get jealous and demand one of his own (or he’ll probably take it from the dogs )! An orthopedic bed would be suitable for Butch since he’s old and still a bit weak from his hospitalisation a few weeks ago. Waterproof beds would be awesome since they are usually salivating (gross i know but still so cute).

…too…many…choices…

Major’s Adventure at the Park October 25, 2008

I’ve decided to take major to a sort-of-dog park nearby my flat. I’m thinking maybe he needs to socialise more with his fellow furry mates. He seems bored with me already hehe.
